Hi i can't confirm that , i had Tested this too with the English Version . (but CD-Version) on Mission 2 : Talay (Tak Base). You can try , to Delete old config Files: c:\Users\-Name-\Documents\TheForceEngine\ c:\Users\All Users\TheForceEngine\ that will remove the Savegame/Profile. or Send your settings.ini , may a special Setting which cause this Crash. ! Or Check your Installation for Errors in Steam or for sure with Dosbox Version ! , or the Steam version has differences hmm
Too importment , which Graphics Card & Driver Version ?
i have look in your Log File , the Crash may can cause the Music , thats my Log
[Error : level_loadINF] Hit the end of INF 'TALAY' before parsing all items: 51/54 (After that Crash Yours)

I wanted to confirm I have the same crash. When I hit Esc to complete a mission or to go to the games main menu *Menu Toggle* the game crashes. I tried rebinding different keys to Menu Toggle and it still crashes. Steam files have been verified and graphics card is a GeForce RTX 2080 Super driver version 512.95. |

First--amazing work. I love that this makes Dark Forces playable, especially on a big screen.
But I have the same problem... so effectively you can't complete a mission thus advance the game. When the game says, "Mission objectives complete, press (ESC) to end mission," you hit ESC and the program crashes back to Windows desktop.

It might not make a difference, but you can try version 0.92.000-3-g9d01b27; several crashes were fixed. This doesn't seem to be related, since it is specifically the Escape menu, but it is worth a try. If that doesn't work, post here and I will dig deeper into the issue.
Interestingly I am using a GeForce 2080 TI, driver 512.15, so I don't think your GPU/driver is the issue here. But there is definitely something strange going on, since most people don't get this particular crash.
I am assuming that if you play Dark Forces in DosBox, then it works correctly? (Mainly to make sure all of the assets are in place)

I found some bugs with double loading the menu assets, which may be related to this crash. That will be fixed in the next release, so that will be a good time to re-test.

Hi ok , i have found now how to Reproduce this Crash ! It still Affects with 0.93.000-13-g405ab0e4 & 0.93.000-14-g80f9ca12 With Software Mode and 2160p Upsacle it Crashes when Press Escape , 1080p is Fine ! With Hardware Mode it works , also with 2160p !

Thanks for the information, that will be helpful in finding the issue. Actually, I found it - it is that the framebuffer copy is too big to be allocated, I need to switch over to the system allocator for that.
This will be fixed in the next release, knowing that it happened at high resolutions but not lower resolutions helped pinpoint the real issue. It has been fixed locally.
