My PC has frozen twice over the past year - both times were while playing The Force Engine over the past two days. I am almost certain that both freezes occurred between levels when viewing the mission info for the upcoming mission. Sound continues to play from other programs, but all screens stop refreshing. I am going to stop playing The Force Engine as putting 2 and 2 together makes it seem as though something that happens between levels is causing this drastic problem. I will report back if it turns out my PC is freezing for a separate reason, but until then, assume that no further freezes have taken place. I'm no programmer, but I hope this can be resolved, as the port is incredible and makes Dark Forces worth playing.
FYI I am running Windows 10 on an RX 6600 XT, 16gb RAM, Ryzen 3600, and I'm playing in software mode in fullscreen at 1080p widescreen.

Sounds strange. Is it always the same place/level or does it seem to be random?

I've created an account as I can't seem to post the full log as text. Here's the full screenshot:

Sounds strange. Is it always the same place/level or does it seem to be random? I wish I could remember exactly when it happened the first time, but I'm pretty sure the first time it happened was when I was reading the mission info (before the mission starts) for the first snow/ice level. The one with the cliffs outside and base inside with the key code.
Second time it happened was when scrolling through the mission info for the level that takes place after that - I haven't seen the level load, sorry.
So to answer your question - kinda. If my memory is correct, it happens when the player reads the mission briefing before a level begins, but not on a particular level.

mazze Check how you much FPS , do you have in-Game , with Msi Afterburner , may too much FPS , Limit the FPS to 60 is a Safe Setting. the Task Warning in your Log , may is too much FPS the problem ! Update also your Graphics Drivers , also from your Onboard Graphic Card , it will never sure , which Card will use as Primary ! Try too in-Game by Graphics : OpenGL/GPU !

Ok, thanks. At this point, I'm honestly not sure what the issue is. But I will keep an eye out for other similar issues or anything that can shed light on the issue. Having your system lock up is never fun. And in your case I don't see any hardware issues - your GPU should be more than good enough, for example.

Thanks to you both. I will try locking my framerate as I've been playing uncapped. Likewise I'll see if OpenGL helps instead of Software.

I'm going to close this, given the age. If you get crashes/freezes with the latest version (1.09.3 or later) - please open a new bug.
