Force Engine Version: v1.00.000 OS: Windows 10 Home GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 CPU: Intel i5-12400 2.50 GHz RAM: 16 GB Game: Dark Forces
The muzzle flash when firing weapons is a smaller radius than the headlamp. When the headlamp is turned on, firing a weapon seems to override the lamp momentarily, causing a "flash" of darkness as the smaller (i.e. less bright) light is used instead of the headlamp. Easily replicated anywhere. It happens in both the Classic and GPU/OpenGL renderers. I checked this in vanilla DOSBox (Steam defaults), and this does not happen. In fact, in DOSBox, the muzzles flashes are brighter than the headlamp, so when firing the light radius is extended momentarily.
I used the search function but did not find any posts mentioning this. I don't want my first post to be only something negative so I'll say: thanks for all your hard work on this! I'm enjoying version 1.0 and it feels very accurate to the original!
