- Computer Specs: Windows 10 / i5-9400F / RTX 2080 Super 8GB / 16GB RAM / game runs from NVME
- Game: Dark Forces
- Screenshot(s): TFE behavior / Vanilla behavior
- Level and location: SECBASE from the attached gob file at the bottom of this post.
- What was the result? My best guess as to what is going on is that TFE does not like compressed transparent textures, or it messes up and skips some column offsets or something.
- What was the expected result? See screenshot labeled "vanilla behavior".
- Is the behavior different than the vanilla game in DosBox? Yes, see screenshot labeled "vanilla behavior".
- Does it happen every time? Yes.
- Be as specific as possible and include repro-steps. Launch the included gob and observe the adjoining midtextures used around the trees. The problem should be immediately visible.
Note that sometimes a related issue occurs where the compressed texture in question is drawn upside down, but with no other problematic effects. I have no idea what causes this.
The BM files included in this gob were produced using the BM Creator utility by Jereth Kok, found here. Here is the aforementioned gob file.
