So I think it would be great if we could see something like a Blood style charge bar for when you are charging up your throw for a thermal detonator. I just tried out the new engine and found that they feel VERY similar to Blood's dynamite bundles. So much so that when you charge the throw up all the way, the TD is thrown upwards more, so the player has to look down slightly to get an extremely far throw on one. This is the exact same strategy you use when throwing dynamite in Blood.
Having a charge up bar would help in understanding the power of a grenade throw, and make combat encounters more easily readable. Now while I was just playing the pre-alpha build and lobbing TDs anywhere and everywhere it became pretty easy to direct my throws and know how long to hold the button down. I was getting pretty accurate, but I also had infinite ammo, and no enemy AI to deal with. When the game is in fully functional state, it'll be much harder when the player is flipping through weapons left and right and pulling up the thermal detonators at a moment's notice to remember the exact amount of time needed for a certain distance throw. A Blood style charging bar for the TD throws would help negate this issue. It could even be a toggle in the options to turn it off for purists who don't want it.
Just a thought, but I think it's a really good idea.

However, one thing to clarify - in the current build there is no limit to how high the "impulse" can get when holding down the Thermal Detonator and then releasing - which definitely isn't accurate. So I suspect once the weapons are finished the TDs will feel a little different. Your idea still has merit but I just wanted to let you know about the inaccuracy there (which of course will be corrected).

Gotcha. Thanks. Hopefully it isn't too far off, but otherwise I think the charge bar might help in gauging a throw. Especially against those stupid mines all over the place sometimes.
